Sell your AMEL sailboat

Are you planning to sell an AMEL yacht? Here’s an outline of how you can work with our team.

1

Choosing a broker

The first step in selling your AMEL yacht is selecting the most suitable broker. As a brokerage firm specializing in AMEL yachts, Sizun & Charpentier, represented by Benoit Sizun, is the ideal point of contact. We have an in-depth understanding of the market, the strengths and nuances of AMEL yachts, and the key aspects to consider during the sales process.

Once you have made your choice, you will reach out to Benoit Sizun.

During our initial conversation, we will discuss your project and your yacht in detail:

  • What model is your AMEL, and what is its history?
  • What has been your sailing program so far?
  • Have any modifications or maintenance work been carried out, or are any needed?
  • Do you have all the necessary administrative documents?
  • What price do you have in mind for the sale?

If we are aligned on expectations, Benoit Sizun will personally visit your yacht. This will be an opportunity to meet in person, review key details, and confirm the information shared during our initial discussion.

2

Setting the Right Price

We carefully select only the finest AMEL yachts for our buyers. Therefore, if we find that your yacht has not been properly maintained or is in a significantly degraded condition, we reserve the right not to list it. The same applies if the asking price is too high—an AMEL that lingers on the market for too long can discourage potential buyers. To ensure a successful sale, we prioritize setting a fair and competitive price from the very start.

With our expertise and deep market knowledge, we will help you determine an appropriate price. If necessary, a professional survey can be arranged to assess the technical condition of your AMEL and support the valuation.

3

Creating and Promoting Your Listing

We will walk you through the proven method we use to sell AMEL yachts successfully. Benoit Sizun will conduct a detailed technical review, test all onboard equipment, and capture high-quality photos and videos to create a compelling listing.

Your AMEL’s listing will be widely promoted through multiple channels:

  • Our network of buyers actively searching for an AMEL that matches their budget and sailing plans
  • Our website Michelcharpentier.com and affiliated platforms
  • Our biweekly newsletter
  • Select print publications

We go far beyond just listing your yacht online. Our goal is to maximize its visibility and attract the right buyers as quickly as possible. If selling your yacht is your priority, it is ours too!

4

Managing Buyer Inquiries

Our experienced broker will handle all inquiries from potential buyers, anticipating their questions and providing transparent and precise information about your yacht and its documentation. As a specialist in AMEL yachts, he will confidently highlight the unique features of your vessel.

  • If a buyer shows strong interest, our team will arrange a viewing as soon as possible. We will coordinate a convenient time for them to step aboard and provide you with expert advice on how to best present your AMEL to make a great impression.
  • If the buyer decides to move forward, both parties will sign a sales agreement from the ABYA (Association of Brokers and Yacht Agents). The buyer will then place a 10% deposit in a secure escrow account.
5

Survey & Sea Trial

Benoît Sizun will coordinate a sea trial, a haul-out, and a survey of your AMEL yacht. We always encourage the owner’s presence during these key operations.

The survey process typically takes a full day and is conducted by an expert chosen by the buyer. It involves a thorough inspection of critical aspects such as the hull, rigging, sails, engine, and overall structure to ensure the yacht’s condition.

The costs of the survey are covered by the buyer.

6

Finalizing the Transaction

  • Following the survey, you and the buyer will sign the bill of sale, ensuring compliance with the regulations of the country where the yacht is or will be registered.
At this stage, the buyer will transfer the full payment into the escrow account, and we will handle all necessary administrative formalities with the relevant authorities.
  • Once these steps are completed, our broker will release the funds to your bank account, marking the successful completion of the sale.

Even after the transaction, we often stay in touch. Many members of the AMEL community who trust us with the sale of their yacht later return to us—sometimes months or years later—when they are ready to acquire a new AMEL.

The 6 Key Factors for a Successful AMEL Sale

  1. A Trusted Relationship – A strong bond between the owner and the broker is essential for working towards a common goal. Our guiding principle: transparency!
  2. Location – We recommend selling your AMEL in the south of France to benefit from our extensive network of technical partners or near an international airport for ease of access.
  3. Condition & Technical Features – The yacht’s presentation and overall condition play a crucial role in attracting serious buyers.
  4. Pricing – Setting a realistic and competitive price ensures a smoother and faster sale.
  5. Documentation – Having a complete and well-organized set of documents reassures buyers and speeds up the process.
  6. Demand & Popularity – Is your AMEL a sought-after model? A high-demand yacht will naturally attract more interest and facilitate the sale.
